Black & White Budget
Last updated: 2 June 2026
The short version
Black & White Budget is a local-first personal budgeting app. We do not run servers. We do not collect, track, or sell your data. Everything you record stays on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. We don't operate any servers or analytics services. The app has no account system, no login, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers.
The data you create inside the app — budgets, transactions, categories, recurring rules, savings goals, receipt photos — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
Permissions we may request
- Notifications — to deliver reminders for recurring transactions, due-soon alerts, low-balance warnings, and your optional daily summary. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device and do not pass through our servers.
- Face ID / Touch ID / Passcode — only used to unlock the app when you enable "App lock" in Settings. The biometric template never leaves your device.
- Photos — only when you tap the receipt-photo button while adding a transaction. The selected image is stored locally with the transaction; we don't transmit it anywhere.
All permissions are optional. Declining any of them does not prevent you from using the rest of the app.
What we do not do
- We do not collect personal information (name, email, location, contacts).
- We do not run analytics or telemetry of any kind.
- We do not display advertising.
- We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any data, because we don't have any.
- We do not use third-party SDKs that collect data.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we ever update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's "What's new" notes on the App Store.
